What do I need to provide for my sausage’s stay?
During your sausage’s stay, please ensure they are well-socialized and comfortable around other sausages, as they will have sausage companions during their holiday. We provide a collar tag for each sausage guest and ask that you bring their food and lead and a blanket. We can provide beds and crates if required. If you are using our Sausage Dog Sanctuary food this is provided free of charge; we also provide all treats and home-made biscuits and any other items to help them feel at home. Please refrain from bringing beds or bowls, as we have these covered for hygiene reasons.
What paperwork will I need to bring?
We require all sausage guests to be up-to-date with vaccinations and parasite treatment. Please upload your dog’s vaccination certificates to our pet booking software. Additionally, we’ll need to record your sausage’s microchip number for our records. If you don’t know this we have a scanner so we can get this on your visit. We also recommend an up-to-date Kennel Cough vaccine for added protection.
How long can my sausage stay for?
We welcome sausage guests for as long as they’d like, with a minimum stay of 2 days in busy periods except during the Christmas period, where inclusive periods apply.
How much exercise does my sausage get?
Plenty! Our sausages enjoy at least two walks a day tailored to their individual needs. With access to our secure walled garden for agility, along with outings to various Derbyshire locations, your sausage will have ample opportunity for exercise and exploration. For puppies, we adjust exercise levels to ensure they’re not overexerted during their growing stages.
Where will my sausage be spending its time?
Our sanctuary is a 500 year old converted Jacobean barn. It provides plenty of space for your sausage to roam and relax. From our cozy kitchen with the AGA and our spacious snug to our luxury lounge. Nowhere is off limits.
Where will my sausage sleep?
Your sausage’s sleeping arrangements can be tailored to their preferences. Whether they prefer a dog bed, sofa, human bed, or snuggling up with a team member, we ensure they’re comfortable and content throughout their stay.
What times can I drop off and pick up my sausage?
Check-in and check-out times are between 8–10 am and 4–6 pm.
What would happen if there was a medical emergency with my sausage?
Rest assured, our team is trained in canine first aid, and we prioritise your sausage’s well-being in any emergency situation. We’ll contact you or your emergency contact immediately and seek veterinary advice promptly. We recommend pet insurance to cover any potential costs.
If my sausage is on medication, can we still make a reservation?
Absolutely! We can accommodate most medications with clear instructions provided. All medication is securely stored and administered as needed throughout your sausage’s stay.
Do you offer teeth cleaning?
Yes. Teeth cleaning is available as an add-on to any night boarding or day care stay. We use an emmi-pet ultrasonic brush with dog-safe toothpaste while your sausage is awake and settled, as part of their normal daily routine. There is no sedation and no anaesthetic involved. It is £25 per session, plus VAT. Just let us know when you enquire and we’ll add it to your booking.
Do you accept titre testing?
Yes! We are able to accept sausages who have undergone titre testing.
What if my sausage does not settle during their stay?
While most sausages settle in quickly, we understand that some may need time to adjust. We’ll keep you updated with daily WhatsApp and social media posts, ensuring you’re informed about your sausage’s holiday adventures.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured by a specialist pet care insurance agency to the highest level. Insurance documents are available for viewing at our premises.
What payment methods do we accept?
Currently, we accept cash, credit or debit cards.
What is your cancellation policy and when do I pay?
A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking, payable within 24 hours of receiving the invoice. The remaining 50% is due 14 days before arrival. Deposits are non-refundable, but if we need to cancel your booking, you’ll receive at least 14 days’ notice and a full refund.
Do you accept females in season and unneutered males?
We kindly request that females are not in or due to be in season during their stay. Unneutered males can be accommodated, subject to trial.
Can we stay in touch with our sausages?
Absolutely! Our VIP packages include daily photo and video updates, with additional pupdates throughout the day. Follow our social media platforms for regular updates and rest assured that your sausage is safe, happy, and well-loved throughout their stay.
What time does my sausage get fed?
We try to align feeding times with your sausage’s routine, typically around walks during the day. However, we avoid feeding within two hours before or after exercise to prevent any discomfort.
